What Is Square One?
Square One is a utility that puts all your programs and files in a single, handy icon palette. You can bring your palette to the front by dragging your mouse to the lower right corner. You can open anything in your palette by double-clicking on it. With Square One, you can:
Ñ Launch programs and open documents.
Ñ Keep your desktop clean.
Ñ Open a group of programs and documents all at once.
Ñ Find and open a particular file on your disk-drive.
Ñ Switch between running programs.
Ñ Quit any running program with a click.
Ñ Hide programs when they're in the background.
What Is the Digital Version?
The digital version of Square One is the complete Square One software and documentation in digital format. There is no disk or manual; it╒s all electronic.
The digital version contains the same Square One software as the physical version. Because there is no cost of goods, we pass the savings on to you.
What Is the Demo Version of Square One?
Until you register, you will only be able to use the demo version of Square One.
The demo version is the same as the fully enabled version, except:
Ñ Palettes expire after about two weeks of use. You then have to create a new palette to keep using the Square One Demo.
Ñ The demo version is not accelerated for the PowerMacintosh. The fully enabled version is.

How Do I Install Square One?
Demo Version
1. Disable any virus-protection or disk-security software. An easy way to do this is to restart your computer while holding down the Shift key. This will turn off all your Extensions and minimize the chance of problems with the Installer.
2. Quit all running programs.
3. Open the ╥Square One¿ 3.0╙ folder and double-click on the ╥Installer╙ icon.
4. You will be asked to enter your serial number. Call us at 1-800-824-6279 for a serial number, or click the Demo button.
5. Click the Install button.
6. The Installer will copy all necessary files to the appropriate locations. If you have a previous version of Square One, the Installer will update all your old files (except your palette, see step 9). After installation is complete, you will see a dialog box with a Restart button. Click Restart (you have no choice!).
7. Enable any virus-protection or disk-security software.
8. Double-click on ╥Square One 3.0 Demo.╙ You may be asked you if you want Square One to launch at startup. Click the Yes button. This will put an alias to Square One in your ╥Startup Items╙ folder and will launch Square One everytime you start up your computer.
9. If you're updating from an older version of Square One, your palette will be updated the first time you use Square One 3.0. Click Yes to convert your palette.
WARNING: Once converted, these palettes cannot be used by an older version of Square One.
Digital Version

After installation is complete, you will see a dialog box with a Restart button. Click Restart (you have no choice!).
8. Enable any virus-protection or disk-security software.
9. The installer installs a password protected, self-expanding archive titled ╥Square One 3.0.sea╙ in the ╥Square One Folder╙ on your hard-drive. Open the ╥Square One Folder╙ and double-click on ╥Square One 3.0.sea.╙ You will be asked to enter the password you wrote down in step 5. Once entered, the archive will decompress to ╥Square One 3.0.╙
10. Delete the following files from the Square One Folder: ╥Square One 3.0.sea,╙ ╥Square One 3.0 Demo,╙ and ╥Ordering Square One.╙
11. Double-click on ╥Square One 3.0.╙ You may be asked if you want Square One to launch at startup. Click the Yes button. This will put an alias to Square One 3.0 in your ╥Startup Items╙ folder and will launch Square One everytime you start up your computer.
12. If you're updating from an older version of Square One, your palette will be updated the first time you use Square One 3.0. Click Yes to convert your palette.

NOTICE TO USER: THIS IS A CONTRACT. BY INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE YOU ACCEPT ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO AGREE TO THESE TERMS, THEN BINARY SOFTWARE IS UNWILLING TO LICENSE THE SOFTWARE TO YOU.
This Binary Software Incorporated (╥Binary╙) License Agreement accompanies a Binary software product and related explanatory written materials ("Software"). The term ╥Software╙ shall also include any upgrades, modified versions or updates of the Software licensed to you by Binary. This copy of the Software is licensed to you as the end user. Please read this Agreement carefully.
Binary grants to you a nonexclusive license to use the Software, provided that you agree to the following:
Use of the Software
You may install the Software in a single location on a hard disk or other storage device; install and use the Software on a file server for use on a network for the purpose of permanent installation onto hard disks or other storage devices or use of the Software over such network; and make backup copies of the Software.
You may make unlimited copies of the Software and give copies to other persons or entities as long as the copies contain this Agreement and the same copyright and other proprietary notices that appear on or in the Software.
Copyright
The Software is owned by Binary and its suppliers, and its structure, organization and code are the valuable trade secrets of Binary and its suppliers. The Software is also protected by United States Copyright Law and International Treaty provisions. You agree not to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of the Software. This Agreement does not grant you any intellectual property rights in the Software.
Transfer
You may not rent, lease, or sublicense the Software. You may, however, transfer all your rights to use the Software to another person or entity, provided that you transfer this Agreement with the Software.
No Warranty
The Software is being delivered to you AS IS and Binary makes no warranty as to its use or performance. BINARY AND ITS SUPPLIERS DO NOT AND CANNOT WARRANT THE PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE SOFTWARE OR DOCUMENTATION. BINARY AND ITS SUPPLIERS MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT WILL BINARY OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF AN ADOBE REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY. Some states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental, consequential or special damages, or the exclusion of implied warranties or limitations on how long an implied warranty may last, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
Governing Law and General Provisions
This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., excluding the application of its conflicts of law rules. This Agreement will not be governed by the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, the application of which is expressly excluded. If any part of this Agreement is found void and unenforceable, it will not affect the validity of the balance of the Agreement, which shall remain valid and enforceable according to its terms. You agree that the Software will not be shipped, transferred or exported into any country or used in any manner prohibited by the United States Export Administration Act or any other export laws, restrictions or regulations. This Agreement shall automatically terminate upon failure by you to comply with its terms. This Agreement may only be modified in writing signed by an authorized officer of Binary.
Notice to Government End Users
If this product is acquired under the terms of a: GSA contract-Use, reproduction or disclosure is subject to the restrictions set forth in the applicable ADP Schedule contract; DoD contract-Use, duplication or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of 252.227-7013; Civilian agency contract-Use, reproduction, or disclosure is subject to 52.227-19 (a) through (d) and restrictions set forth in the accompanying end user agreement.

License Agreement

License
You are permitted to use Square One 3.0-Digital, (the "Software") on any single computer, provided the Software is in use on only one computer at a time. "Use" means loading the Software into temporary or static memory (RAM or SRAM), or installing the Software onto the hard disk or any other storage device of that computer.
You are not permitted to rent, lease, lend, sublicense or otherwise temporarily transfer the right to use the Software or the physical user documentation accompanying the Software (the "User Documentation"). You may permanently transfer all of your rights to use the Software to another person, provided that you at the same time transfer all copies of the Software (or destroy all copies not transferred) and the User Documentation.
You are not permitted to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to render source code or file format from the Software.
Your right to use the Software and the User Documentation terminates automatically if you fail to comply with the terms of this License.
Copyright Protection
The Software is owned by Binary Software, and is protected by various laws, including United States copyright law and international copyright treaties. Therefore, you must treat the Software like any other copyrighted material, except that you are permitted to make archival copies of the Software for backup purposes, provided that you destroy all archival copies in the event you permanently transfer possession of the Software, or if your continued possession of the Software ceases to be rightful. You may not copy the User Documentation.
Limited Warranty
Binary Software warrants that the media, if any, on which the Software is furnished will be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of receipt. BINARY SOFTWARE DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE, USER DOCUMENTATION AND MEDIA, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties, so these exceptions and limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have others which vary from state to state.
Remedies
Binary Software's entire liability and your exclusive remedy for breach of this Limited Warranty shall be, at Binary Software's Option, either (1) refund of the price paid, or (2) replacement of the defective media and the User Documentation (if any). Under no circumstances shall Binary Software be liable to you for any claim for damages (including special, incidental, or consequential damages) resulting from loss of data, business interruption, or other similar event, even if Binary Software has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
U. S. Government Restricted Rights
The Software and User Documentation are licensed to the U. S. Government with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U. S. Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013 and the Commercial Computer Software clause at 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable.
